i'll sing you back again
I'm a singer of songs and a player of music. These days, the singing of songs and playing of music is a softer profession. In my day, it was one of the most dangerous professions, and one of the most exalted, that one could hold. Most people don't understand that now, but we appreciate the ones who remember.

I hear songs in everything: the trees, the grass, the rain, the fire, the wind.

Thingwaer.

I spoke earlier of flames.

I didn't neglect to speak of the wind -- I was coming to it. The voice in the wind is quite as powerful, perhaps moreso in its own way, than the voice in the fire. Fire will devour everything; but the wind will devour the fire. And that is not wrong.

Thingwaer. Hear it.

There is Wind in Fire as well, for Fire burns brightly and Dances in its presence, and the Fire does not forget this. Thus is the Fire banked up and protected by its covering of Black Volcanic Glass, the Earth and Fire fused into one, so that the Wind may howl all it likes and the Fire smolder quietly for a time. When the Wind's fury dies down again, the Fire will still be there and will alight anew.

There would be no Wind without the StarFire of the Sun heating everything. The Fire does not forget this, either, though the Wind may in its fury.

Mm, it is a softer profession. Then, a lot of edges have gotten worn away.

The voice in wind is powerful, though so are the others. I prefer that of water, especially seas.
